Our take
The current FX+ 2 is a big change from the old 40 lb FX+. It now has a 500W hub motor, a throttle, a 520 Wh battery and full commuter gear, all at about 56 lb. You're paying Trek's price for a bike you can buy from and service at a local dealer, and it's UL 2849 certified. The 300 lb total weight limit is low for heavier riders hauling cargo, and direct-to-consumer bikes give more battery for the money.

Will rode it: a 500W commuter with a bigger 733 Wh battery and rack, for less than Trek's MSRP.
