Hawaii e-bike laws
- ClassesHawaii law (HRS 291C-1) counts a federally defined low-speed electric bicycle as a bicycle. Act 259, signed July 15, 2026 and in effect immediately, bans devices over 750 W or faster than 28 mph from public roads, bike lanes, paths, sidewalks and other public areas, and requires a permanent label showing class, top assisted speed and motor wattage.
