Our take

The Rift is a fat-tire bike with a rack built to carry a passenger, for riders who want one bike for trails, sand and hauling a kid. Its big battery and four-piston brakes are strong for $1,795. It uses a cadence sensor and has no rear suspension, and at 84.5 lb it is heavy. Every version was out of stock when we checked.

What owners say

Ride1Up's page shows about 77 reviews. Owners we read praise easy assembly and well-adjusted brakes on arrival. One owner who tows a child trailer called it a stable workhorse with excellent four-piston brakes, but noted it is heavy and uses a cadence sensor.

Caveat: These reviews sit on the maker's own store, which may filter them. They aren't independent.
