What I said about the Aventon Aventure 3

Comfortable on gravel, lots of power, and the app lock is actually useful.

This is the best e-bike Aventon makes for me, and probably the best e-bike I've ridden, period. I'm 6'1" and about 200 lb and it fits me really well. I ride a lot of gravel now, and the fat tires plus the suspension seatpost make it feel almost like a full-suspension bike without the extra parts and cost. The 750W motor has plenty of power for any incline.

Liked

  • Very comfortable on gravel and rough trails
  • Suspension seatpost feels close to full suspension
  • 750W motor with plenty of power on hills
  • Beefy chain slap guard that held up to aggressive riding
  • App-controlled rear wheel lock; I used it for a quick Trader Joe's run
  • Fenders and rear rack included

Didn't

  • Turn signals feel a bit gimmicky, and I couldn't find a hazard mode
  • I'd like larger palm-rest grips (an easy swap)
  • Front fender let some mud onto the underside of the battery
  • Heavy at about 75 lb

If you want a big, powerful fat tire e-bike with a lot of range and you're fine with baseline parts, the Engwe E26 is a great entry-level pick when it's priced right. I tested it for several weeks. It hauled me up every incline I tried at about 200 lbs, the twist throttle works from zero, you get hydraulic disc brakes, and the battery comes out with a key. When I recorded my video it was just over $1,000, and at that price it was very competitive. Engwe now lists it at $1,699, and every version shows sold out. At $1,699 it faces a lot more competition, so compare before you buy.

Liked

  • Plenty of power for hills at about 200 lbs
  • Twist throttle that works from zero
  • Hydraulic disc brakes front and rear
  • High rated range for a fat tire bike
  • Removable battery with a key, or charge it on the bike
  • Super bright integrated headlight
  • Heavy-duty rear rack with a tail light
  • Front and rear fenders included
  • Color display
  • Comfortable palm-rest grips

Didn't

  • Lots of baseline components, including a basic shifter
  • No rear suspension on the bike I tested
  • The seat post suspension didn't do much for me
  • A big bike that may not fit shorter riders
  • Sold out on Engwe's site as of Oct 22, 2026
