Can I ride my e-bike here?

Pick your state, a county, city or park if it has its own rules, and your bike's class. You'll get the rules on file for that place, word for word from our law pages, with links to the official sources. State data last checked .

59 local rules on file. Not listed? State law applies. Not sure of your class? It's on the label on the frame.

How the checker works

It reads the same entries as our state law pages. Lines that name your class are pulled to the top. Nothing is guessed: if a state's entry is still being checked, the checker says so and links to the source.

Some states don't use Class 1, 2 and 3 at all. For those, read the state's definition of an e-bike. A bike that goes past it may count as a moped or motor vehicle there.

Parks, trails and HOAs can post rules of their own. Look for signs where you ride. This is a summary, not legal advice.
