My verdict
After several weeks of testing, I think the Abound is a great option if you want a cargo e-bike. The 750W motor gives smooth, steady power with a load on the back, it's easy to get on and off thanks to the step-through frame, and touches like turn signals and the dropper post make it practical for a family. Just know the price can creep from about $2,200 toward $3,000 once you add accessories.
What I liked
- 750W motor felt smooth and steady, even hauling
- 440 lb total capacity for kids, groceries, and gear
- Turn signals that shut off on their own after about 10 blinks
- Dropper seatpost makes it easy to share with another rider
- Handlebars fold down for easier storage
- Big storage bag under the seat, plus an Aventon phone mount that fits most phones
- Comfortable grips that support your palm
What I didn't
- No chain slap guard; my frame got scratched during testing
- Headlight sits under the front basket, which I found less visible than mounting it on the basket
- Accessories can push the total close to $3,000
