Aventon Ramblas review
Quick verdict
Aventon's first mid-drive and first real e-mountain bike: a hardtail that climbs like crazy and is built better than I expected for the price.

My verdict
After several weeks on the trails, this is my favorite bike Aventon makes right now, mostly because trail riding is what I like to do. The A100 motor's torque is insane for how small the power number looks, and it pushed me up every hill I pointed it at. You get a dropper post and a RockShox fork that you'd usually pay extra for, and the welds and finish are some of the best I've seen on an Aventon. I'm keeping this one and plan to do a longer 100 or 200 mile follow-up.
What I liked
- Huge torque from the A100 mid-drive on climbs; don't let the 250W rating fool you
- Dropper post comes standard, with the cable hidden inside the frame
- RockShox fork and a SRAM Eagle 12-speed with plenty of gears for climbing
- Display is tucked under the bar, so it's less likely to crack in a crash
- Very clean cockpit, lock-on grips, and a chain slap guard that keeps the frame quiet
- Smooth welds and a great color; one of the best-built Aventons I've tested
What I didn't
- Hardtail only, no rear suspension
- Headlight is optional (I didn't install it)
- Charger uses a proprietary plug, so don't lose it or you'll be buying another from Aventon
